The Empire Awards
14 March 2005
Mr. Rickman was spotted on the red carpet with Dogma director/writer/star Kevin Smith (who was awarded Empire's Independent Spirit Award) last night at The Empire Awards. The good people who put on the shindig had this to say about The Man:

"Food is served. Empire, despite it being our party, is reduced to eating in the room where the food is being prepared by the caterers, and not in the main hall with the celebs. Bah humbug. However, this paves the way for the inarguable highlight of the evening when, halfway through a lovely salmon/rice combo, we look up to see Alan Rickman himself walk in and grab some food. Readers, let Empire confirm that there is nothing on this planet more fun than quoting Die Hard lines to Alan Rickman. Mind you, we were quoting them under our breath and only after we were fairly certain he couldn't hear. Still… 'you ask for miracles, Theo, I give you the F.B.I.', 'Shoot! The! Glass!' and our favourite 'Yippee-kay-yay, motherfucker!' all got good airings."

The Art of Freedom
12 March 2005
Mr. Rickman is once again dipping into his art school background to help support the release of Gedhun Choekyi Nyima, who, along with his family, was abducted by Chinese authorities in May of 1995 shortly after being named the 11th Panchen Lama by the Dalai Lama. He was six years old at the time. Mr. Rickman has donated a piece of art to be auctioned off on March 17th in London at the Foyles Gallery in honor of the 10 year anniversary of that abduction. HBP Cover Art Released
08 March 2005
The publishers of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince released the book's cover art this morning on NBC's Today Show. Both the US edition and the UK children's edition feature renditions of Dumbledore and Harry penned by Mary GrandPre and Jason Cockcroft respectively.
The most interesting of the covers, however, is the [UK adult edition] which features rather prominently a battered edition of Advanced Potion Making. While some have been insisting that this points to Snape being the half-blood prince, I'm not going to jump to any conclusions on the matter. If you have any theories as to why this particular text would be on the cover, feel free to [send] them in. [TLC]
