TV Guide Reviews Something
26 May 2004

TV Guide has quite the stellar review of Something the Lord Made in their most recent issue. And thanks to Jen over at [TARF], we've got the full article. Here's just something to whet your appetite. Don't forget to watch Something the Lord Made this Sunday at 9pm EST on [HBO]!

"For decades, it was a medical mantra: Don't touch the heart. Surgeons considered the organ too delicate to be operated on. That doctrine changed in 1944, when Dr. Alfred Blalock, a white Southerner, and Vivien Thomas, his untrained African-American lab technician, carved out a path in the new field of heart surgery. By incisively dramatizing this chapter of scientific history, HBO's Something the Lord Made accomplishes an apt feat: It, too, touches the heart."

[Click here] to finish reading the review. You'll need to register at the board to read it. You can check out all the trailers over at [The Alan Rickman Download Haven], along with everything else to make your day right.

MTV Has New Trailer

It was announced today during Harry Potter Day on TRL that the show would be airing a new, previously unseen trailer for Prisoner of Azkaban. Who knows? Maybe WB deemed it necessary to put a little bit more of The Man in the previews.

Dateline Screen Captures
24 May 2004

I took a few screen captures from [Wandless Magic's] Dateline NBC video. They're not very big and not the best of quality, but I'm sure there will be a higher resolution file on the net very soon. Also be sure to check out [HPANA] for their excellent photos from yesterday's premiere.

Leaky Speaks With Potter Stars
24 May 2004

[The Leaky Cauldron] had the chance to speak with all the Harry Potter stars yesterday at the US premiere, including a little, and very enlightening, chat with Mr. Rickman. Here's what he had to say:

Q: So we’ve heard you know all about Snape’s backstory.
A: No, I don’t know everything.

Q: Ah. So what are you looking forward to playing with Snape?
A: Well I’m looking forward to you being surprised by him at all times. I’m certainly not telling you anything!

Q: What’s your next project?
A: Well, I have to do Harry Potter four, and I am hoping to do a really interesting couple of films if we can get them in in the meantime. One is called “For Our Sons,” one is called “Snow Cake.” It’s a really wonderful script about a man who meets a woman who’s an adult autistic.

Potter Premiere Mania
23 May 2004

The U.S. premiere of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban took place this afternoon at New York's Radio City Music Hall. Stars such as Tim Robbins and wife Susan Surandon, Matchbox Twenty's Rob Thomas and model Christie Brinkley all attended in addition to the film's already stellar cast. Our favourite Englishman, Alan Rickman, was on hand to add a little self-deprecating humor to the mix.

Even Alan Rickman (news), 58, who plays sullen Hogwarts professor Severus Snape, was greeted by a marriage proposal from a somewhat older fan. "She must be desperate," he responded dryly.

He's lucky it was only a marriage proposal. I can think of a few choice words that could have flown, unbidden mind you, from my mouth had I been in that fan's position. [Click here] to read the rest of that story and see some photos from the premiere. Make sure to keep checking back at [Wandless Magic] for larger version of the [WireImage] photos.

Alan Makes Channel 4's Top 50
16 May 2004

The results of [Channel 4's Greatest Brits] have been released and while most of us would put him first on any list, Mr. Rickman came in 6th right behind Orlando Bloom (yes, I shook my head too). The list of the top 50 British actors included Ian McKellen, Anthony Hopkins and Michael Caine, among others. Here's what Channel 4 had to say about our favourite actor:

Throughout his career, Rickman's soothing baritone and commanding presence have added gravitas to the archest of villains (the Sheriff in Robin Hood: Prince Of Thieves) and the most romantic leads (Truly, Madly, Deeply). A much loved favourite.
