We barely get our first glimpse of the Potions master in this scene. Dumbledore introduces Remus Lupin and Snape claps all of three times before calling it quits. At least he tried.
hpThe Boggart
No dialogue from Snape in this scene either, although we do get to see him in a dress. Bascially, for those two of you who don't already know this scene, Lupin asks Neville what scares him the most and he answers Professor Snape. Seeing as how a boggart turns into what you fear the most, the boggart turns into Snape for Neville. To get rid of a boggart, you need to turn it into something amusing and use Riddikulus to do so. So, Neville hits the Boggart!Snape with it et voila, it turns into Snape wearing Neville's grandmother's clothes. A green dress and vulture hat complete with red handbag.
hpSleepover in the Great Hall
Snape: I've done the dungeons, Headmaster, no sign of Black nor anywhere else in the castle.
Dumbledore: I didn't really expect him to linger.
Snape: Remarkable feat, don't you think? To enter Hogwarts castle on one's own, completely undetected.
Dumbledore: Quite remarkable, yes.
Snape: Any theories on how he might have managed it?
Dumbledore: Many, each as unlikely as the next.
Snape: You may recall, prior to the start of term, I did express concerns about your appointment of Professor Lupin...
Dumbledore: Not a single professor inside this castle would help Sirius Black to enter it. I'm quite convinced the castle is safe, I'm more than willing to send the students back to their houses.
Snape: What about Potter? Should he be warned?
Dumbledore: Perhaps, but for now let him sleep. For in dreams we enter a world that is entirely our own. Let them swim in the deepest ocean or glide over the highest cloud.
hpWerewolves!
hp[Snape enters classroom, closes all shutters and pulls down screen]
Snape: Turn to page 394.
hp[Harry stops Snape as he walks to the back of the room]
Harry: Excuse me, sir, where's Professor Lupin?
Snape: That's not really your concern, is it Potter? Suffice it to say that your professor finds himself incapable of teaching at the present time. Turn to page 394.
hp[Snape turns on the projector and turns Ron's book the correct page]
Ron: Werewolves?!
Hermione: But sir, we've just begun learning about redkaps and hinkypunks. We're not meant to start nocturnal beasts for weeks.
Snape: Quiet.
Ron (to Harry): How did she get here? Did you see her come in?
Snape: Now, which one of you can tell me the difference between an animagus and a werewolf?
hp[Hermione raises her hand]
Snape: No one? How disappointing.
Hermione: Please sir, an animagus is a wizard who elects to turn into an animal, a werewolf has no choice. With each full moon, when he transforms he no longer remembers who he is. He'd kill his best friend if he crossed his path. Furthermore, the werewolf only responds to the call of its own kind.
hp[Draco howls]
Snape: Thank you, Mr. Malfoy. That is the second time you have spoken out of turn, Miss Granger. Are you incapable of restraining yourself or do you take pride in being an insufferable know-it-all?
Ron: He's got a point, you know.
Snape: 5 points from Gryffindor. As an antidote to your ignorance and on my desk by Monday morning, two rolls of parchment on the werewolf with particular emphasis on recognizing it.
Harry: But sir, it's quidditch tomorrow.
hp[Snape gets all up in Harry's grill]
Snape: Then I suggest you take extra care, Mr. Potter. Loss of limb will not excuse you. Page 394. The term 'werewolf' is a contraction of the Anglo-Saxon word 'were', which means man, and wolf. Werewolf, man-wolf. There are several ways to become a werewolf; they include being in the power of shapeshifting, being bitten by a werewolf and being born a werewolf.
